Hello,

I would like to extend the 'AutoCompleteExtender' so that it will use a TreeView within the results frame, instead of a list of strings.

How can I do that? I'll be happy to see an example

Thanks

This is a week's task on its own, but here's a starting point: create a user control that inherits from the AutoCompleteExtender and override the parts that do the rendering on the callback to the server.

You will also have to change the web service logic, because somehow you will have to tell the autocompleteextender that it should indent to a certain level.

something like this might be easier with AJAX aware treeview controls, for instance from Telerik (but others exist too, I guess).

Getting this right will be quite some work. And since treeviews are hierarchical, how would the textbox that it is connected to know what the parent nodes are? That too should be taken into account (nodes may have the same text, but different parents, or different positions).
