Downgrading SBS 2003 to 2003 Standard
Hi,
I'm working with a company that is downsizing. They currently have two servers:
#1 - SBS 2003 w/Exchange
#2 - 2003 Standard Edition
We are basically taking the SBS server out of the mix. We are NOT keeping exchange and there are no other programs running on the SBS server. The only thing I am concerned about is Active Directory.
Can I simply run DCPromo on the SBS server and remove it from the domain or is there more to it than that?
Any help would be appreciated.

This isn't as straighforward as it ought to be - SBS 2003 wants to keep control of all the FSMO roles. I haven't actually performed this migration myself, however there's an article at MSExchange.org (ignore the exchange focus of the article, it does do what you're trying to achieve.) - make sure you get good backups before, and you may well find that you need to decommision the old SBS server fairly quickly after ensuring the roles have all been transferred - i haven't seen it documented but in my experience the SBS box will try and take the roles back.
