i am trying to figure out why quickbooks 2009 is slow on a peer to peer network, i have narrorowed the problem to being related to DNS. but am not sure how to resolve it. this is a small peer to peer network, with only 2 quickbooks users. they have a 32Bit Vista PC with 4gb of RAm for a file server, both clients are newer pc's as well, they are running on a 100mg switch with a linksys router. Quickbooks takes about 3 minutes to load. if i put in a static IP on each pc, but leave the DNS settings blank quickbooks will open in about 15 seconds... if they had an AD/DNS Server here it would not be a problem, but since they do not and i need the ISP's DNS for internet connetivity what can i do? Thanks
