Project Management/Database Suggestions?

I am currently researching different project management software/solutions and was curious if anyone has any suggestions for some of my criteria.  I'm thinking I'm needing more of a database tracking software versus a project management software because we want one portal to view all the projects.  So far I've looked at Business Objects/Crystal Reports, MS Access and FileMaker:

Criteria:
1. Ability to track project status of 300+ projects easily
     - Need an overall project dashboard
     - Need specific category dashboard
2. Ability to link sub-projects to overall projects
     - Example:  Project X completion is dependent on sub-projects 1, 2 and 3.  But sub-projects
1, 2 and 3 need to be managed independently.
3. Ability to link/upload documents
4. Ability to enter/track notes.

Thanks for your help,
Matt

Since you want to monitor 300+ projects I would suggest you look into one of the enterprise portfolio management tools, e.g. MS Project Server with Sharepoint portal. To take full advantage you have to manage all projects with MS Project though.
See http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/projectserver/FX100739841033.aspx

Another option I have worked with myself as an enduser is Artemis (http://www.aisc.com), which also served as resource management, competence management and time tracking tool in an international environment.

Finally, your question is illustrated with an advertisement of Daptiv (www.daptiv.com). I don't know it myself, but as they sponsor E-E I would suggest you give them the opportunity to present themselves as well.

If you have additional questions, just post them. I am happy to drill down on stuff.

Regards, Peter

Thanks Peter.  I think I'm looking for something a little less robust, mainly because I'm going to be the one managing it, and even though there are a large number of projects, essentially, it's the data that I need to capture.  I'm working through FileMaker right and took a look at Daptiv (it looks like Daptiv might have a lot of the features I need).  Thanks for the feedback, I'm going to check these out and will let you know if I have any questions.

We ended up going with more of a database versus PM tool.
