i  had an identicle occurance on a shared hosted domain. in the end i got the remote host to revert back to a very early backup.  they blamed it on another account they had isolated. it took a while to resolve though
as i had to go through google webmaster tools to apply to the to reasses the site.

it was a real hassle and my sympathies are with you
