Does Anyone work with Harvard Graphics?

Hi EE,

a) How/why have you used Harvard Graphics?
b) How would you compare charts to Excel/Access?
c) Can you import data from external sources for graphing?

d) can HG communicate with Visual Basic/Access VBA?

I am receiving lots of great help from EE regarding Access graphs.
I just heard that a colleague in another dept uses an older version of Harvard Graphics,
and wanted to see if we should upgrade to latest version.

tx, sandra

mytfein,

I haven't worked with Harvard Graphics for years, but I can tell you that at the time I used it, it was because the visual results capable with Harvard Graphics was much, much better than any of the MS Office products. Although the Office products have improved, they haven't caught up with where the Harvard Graphics used to be.

While I can't speak directly to the features they have now, just scanning their list indicates that they are still well ahead of Office, and also that they have the capability of importing data from other spreadsheets.

If the "look" of your graphed information is important to you, the price is reasonable and I believe you'll get superior quality results.

Cheers,
LHerrou

Hi LH,

tx for your reply...

Yes, I am working with Access, and I need more control of the graph...

I wonder If I could talk to HG programmatically via VB/VBA.

(I believe that one can talk to Adobe Acrobat from Access)

i might download trial to see HG....

Do you have any other bar chart software to recommend.

I need to draw and arrow to the bar that student falls into.
So if 10 courses, graph the 10 courses, and draw an arrow to the category that student falls into.

On Monday, I will try to show you a sample graph.
tx, sandra

As far as I know, there's no programmatic access to HG. It's an older program, I don't think they are doing a lot with it these days.
