I lost the ability to dynamically assign resources to the lpars.

Hi,

i have an ibm bladecenter H with js22 blades. I have lost the ability to dynamically assign resources to a lot of my lpars. I had the system board replaced on one blade, and can't dynamically assign on any lpar accept the vio server. On the second blade, I can't dynamically assign resources on new lpars.

Hi,

are you using HMC or IVM? Are you running AIX or Linux on the LPARs?
The most likely reason for DLPAR not working is broken RMC connection between the HMC or IVM and the LPARs.
Now I'm not very familiar with IVM. If you have an HMC, however, you should login there as hscroot and issue
'lspartition -dlpar'
All partitions must show a value other than '0x0' in the DCAP field, and all IP addresses and hostnames must show up correctly.
If you use IVM, do you have a similar tool?
Anyway, if the RMC connections were broken, there is a way to fix it. If you use Linux, do you have 'RSCT for Linux' installed?
If yes, we can use the contained 'rmcctrl' command to fix your issue. In AIX, RSCT is standard for LPARs.

Please describe your environment a bit more detailed, and we'll see.

Cheers

Thx for the points!

A little hint: You should put your next AIX question into the appropriate zone "IBM AIX Unix" so that we can see it in good time!
