when ever I export a Pdf from Indesign CS3 it always has either thin white hairlines in regtangles around graphics or thin hairline black halos around psd graphics which are have alpha transparency. The problem seems to be when effects are applied to imported images such as dropshadows and glows etc. The visual defects only show in the screen render they always print fine. The problem is that it looks really bad when I show artwork to clinets. I've tried all varitaions of export settings including using PDF standards. The white lines happen with older PDf standards whilst the black halo appears only PDFX-4. DOes anyone know of a simple way to reliably export PDF's without visual glitches?

thnx in advance

Hi

You will need to switch off Object level compression in Distiller and then the fragmentation will disappear.

Open Distiller, go to Adobe PDF settings and then select the General menu. There is a dropdown box, which is usually set to maximum.

Set it to off.
