You just run the Exchange 2007 setup and choose to modify and add the role. No different than the full product.

Hi Simon.

When I go to add an remove programs, select Exchange and click modify,  the roles selection screen appears but the Unified Messaging Role cannot be selected. Its grayed out.

Are you saying, that I should run the SBS setup and only install the particular role on the member server ?

Thanks Andy

Try running it from setup.com on the disk instead.
You have purchased the Enterprise CALs that are required as well?

If you want to install the UM role on a separate server then you will need to purchase an additional Exchange 2007 licence.

Dear iqq,

try seup.com /m: install /role:UM

See what is the error it through ? and see the Exchangesetup.log "on C:\ usually" , to see if there is an error

Hi All

I have now answers from MS. It is not possible to add the Unified Messaging Role to a SBS 2008 Domain.
Mestha was right, not only one must have the Enterprise CAL's but also must have a Standard Domain not a SBS Domain.
for those who are tempted:  During the process I did try to install the Exchange 2007 UM Role from an Exchange 2007 DVD on a separate Server and it does fail!
Kind Regards
Andy
