Word 2007 knows to open in print layout view?

We have a program which generates documents when you click a link on a website.  The documents open in Word and contain a picture.  In 2003, they open by default in Normal view.  But in 2007, they open by default in Print Layout view.  That's what we want but I'm not yet familiar enough with 2007 to understand why this is happening.

We want this behavior to continue so I need to document it.  Can anyone tell me why it does this, and where to find the setting - if any - that controls this?

You'll need a macro

Documents open in the last view they were opened/saved.

Press the view tab and the answer is there. Draft is normal view in Word 2007.

There is a small bar at bottom right hand corner where you can change your view too.

So once you save your document in draft view, it will simply open as draft view next time.

We are using a macro in Word 2003 which automatically changes the view when these documents are open.  So we're ok there.  And we know how to change the views manually.  I also know that views are saved in documents.
But what I'm questioning is why these same documents open in 2007 in Print Layout view automatically.
The documents are created when you click on the link.  They don't exist until you do that.  So there's no way that they can be saved in a certain view.
And yet they are opening in Word 2007 in print layout view, without my needing to do anything.  Which as I said is what we want to happen, but I want to know WHY it's happening so I can be sure that whatever is causing it still exists when we go live.
The vendor who set up this site for us indicated that we wouldn't have a problem in Word 2007, but he didn't explain why and he's since left that company so I can't ask what he meant.

I do not understand what you mean too.

Print layout view is the default view that word opens with every document. It happens because Microsoft made it like this.

That's the answer, which I just found myself by googling.  Print Layout view is the default view in Word.  So brand new documents will open in that view, unless they've previously been saved with another view, which these particular documents have not.
