Hi,
I have 2 servers that are W2KSP4 with Pesentation Server 4.0.  I want to add another server but this time I want to put W2K3SP2 with xenapp 4.5.  What is the best way yo go about it?  Eventually I plan to retire the old ones and add new 2003 with xen4.5.  License server is already done.  Also With the 4.0, I have the IMA DB on SQL 2000.  How does this complicate this plan going forward.

thanks in advance.

When you install the 4.5 server it will become the Zone Data Collector.  You will then to do ALL farm management from the 4.5 server.  Doing ANY farm mgmt from a 4.0 server will rick corrupting the data store and destroying your farm.

Having the data store on SQL 2000 is fine.

"When you install the 4.5 server it will become the Zone Data Collector"  Do I have to point the other servers to it(is this a setting I need to changer)?

All the Documentation omits anything about SQL 2000.

so what are my steps?

You don't have to do a thing.  The Zone Data Collector election process is automatic and will happen as soon as you reboot the 4.5 server after the install.

You are fine with SQL 2000.

I would recommend upgrading/migrating to SQL 2005 as soon as possible though.

While setting up, have it join the existing farm and it will take care of the rest then...works for me.  Thanks

Yep, join the existing farm, connect to the existing data store, connect to the existing license server, reboot, install apps, add server to published apps, etc.
