I'm trying to add one stick memory of 128 mb pc133 in the empty slot on this board.  Computer runs fine with the two sticks already in it but won't boot and gives a memory error when I add the stick. What's wrong?
Thanks

Try booting with just the old stick, then try booting with the just new stick. If the problem exists with just the new stick, take both sticks to the place where you bought the second and have them help you match them up.

Your motherboard may not like the density of the new RAM - the first P4 motherboards used the now rare and expensive low density chips in PC100 and PC133 sticks.  Check on the www.crucial.com website with the memory configurator to see what it says about special requirements.

It seems to be the new ram.  I mis-spoke The system reads 640mb ram not 512mb.   Would this make a difference?

Regardless of whatever amounts of the memory capacity that you seee, the two modules will need to be the same type so I'd take both to thhe place where you bought the new one annd mmake sure that they are matched up...if for some reason, this isn't possible, make sure you buy the correct memory, and just buy two of them since memory is cheap right now.
