Have an OCS 2007 R1 server with R2 client and adding PIC contacts

Hello I have an OCS 2007 R1 server and most of my clients are communicator 2007 R2 clients. The problem is that if you have a msn contact thats using the e-mail of say bob@gmail.com with the R1 client you add it as bob(gmail.com)@msn.com and it works fine. However if you have R2 it tells you that the address is invalid and to basically re-type it.

Bob@gmail.com can add the R2 client to their list and the R2 client will get a message that bob(gmail.com)@msn.com has added them and let them be on the list but the R2 client can't add that person.

Any tips would be appreciated.

HI,

I have just tried this with an R2 client connected to an R2 server and did not recieve any error messages when adding the contact to the contact list.

I do not have an R1 Server at hand to test again, but I would assume this is more a Client Side thing than Server Side.

Are you running the latest QFE (.34) on the R2 clients?

Yes.

I suggest you install the last hotfix and try adding the contact again.

cool thanks. I installed over the weekend. Unfortunately it didn't make a difference. However I posted it on the microsoft socil network and I was refered to a technet blog which isn't exactly a fix however it is a work around that works.
