My ESX server is running. How can I lauch Redha't GUI from the command line. I thought it was startx
My ESX Servers are up and running and I wanted to start the Gui Interface. I thought I could launch a putty session, switch users to root and then launch startx from the command line. It tried Startx, StartX, startX, and startx. Can someone shed some light?
I was also trying to type ifconfig and nothing seems to work from the command line.

Putty is used for remote access. If you want to act as if you are local to the machine, use VNC.
ASKER
This is a linux box. Creating a putty session and accessing it remotely was the method that I thought I could use to run these commands.
