We have intranet setup in our company and now users are accessing it by typing the port number with the server name such as http://myserver:34227/default.aspx from inside the company. But we want to redirect ths port to some simple name such as http://mycompanyintranet.com/defualt.aspx. Do you know how can we do this? I have seen in some companies they have Intranet setup like this. For Example, Cisco has intranet setup as "wwwin.cisco.com". Please help.

Without supplying a port in the URL, the default port is 80.  AFAIK, there's nothing you can do on the client side to change this.  On the server side, though, you can pick up the port 80 request based on a specific host header and forward it to your custom port.

"Can't be done" is a valid answer to the question.  #24945907
