How do I remove all traces of former domain from server and its workstations?

I have a Windows 2003 Standard server with two workstations connected to it.  I demoted it from a domain controller, but the computer name still shows "server.companyname.local".  The workstations use the same format for their names.  I can browse to the server from My Network Places, Workgroup.  I want to rename all 3 systems and remove all traces of the former domain.  I DON'T want to "upset" anything that is already running, please remember I am a novice at Server 2003.

Check the name of each computer. When you click the change name button, in the pop up window, there should be a button called more. Check in there for the fully qualified name. That lingers sometimes.

Yes the name has "lingered" on all 3 computers:  server.companyname.local, backoffice.companyname.local, and frontoffice.companyname.local.       How do i get rid of this stuff and make this just a simple Workgroup network?

I agree with clonga13, this should fix your issue.  I have run into this in the past and this was the resolution for it.  Good Luck!!

Also had to click the "more" button when changing it on the server.  Fantastic, concise solution!
