Symantec backup Exec error

Hi all,

I am installing Symantec Backup Exec 11d on a new pc running Windows XP with the following specs (WXP SP3, 2Gb Ram).

We already have the Symantec installed on another server and we would like to remove it from that server since it will be demolished. While installing locally the Symantec it is giving me the bellow error and nothings installs.

Hi,

Anyway, I think that BE server is not supported on Windows XP, only on servers! I think that you can't install it on Windows XP - only on W2K3 or W2K8 servers (W2000 server SP4 also).

The error with SQL Express is common that you do have some instance of SQL Express already installed on the machine - but I think the issue here is Windows XP as not supported platform for BE server!

Agree with Vladimir,

you said Symantec installed on another server and you demolisihgn that, find the key for installed win server on that and use same key to install server on this XP that you have this way you will save licensing cost + you will not get single error during installation, if you have SQL server already running somewhere use that or else use expresss ediotion that comes with backup exec using typical settings. also before you begin installing backup exec install application server role + .net 3.5 SP1 with if its 32 bit server.

Install all 3 updates available in the section titled Files in This Download. These updates should be installed in the following sequence:

Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update for Windows XP x86, and Windows Server 2003 x86

Install the update for the .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2 - NDP20SP2-KB958481-x86.exe
Install the update for the .NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 2 - NDP30SP2-KB958483-x86.exe
Install the update for the .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 - NDP35SP1-KB958484-x86.exe
