Can You Link Records in FileMaker Pro

I'm in the process of testing out FileMaker Pro to see if it's a viable solution for me to use.  I wanted to see if anyone knew if it were possible to link records together?  I'm trying to create a project/task tracking database and I have a number of projects that I want consolidate together because I want to relate them to one larger project.  The larger project completion will be dependent on the completion of the correlating "sub-projects."  Is this possible, let me know if you need to me to explain more.

Thanks

Yes this would be very doable.  Here is one approach.

Create a table called "Project" and add two columns, "project_key" and "parent_project".  Now, open your Table Graph (TG) and create two Table Occurrences (TO) of the same "Project" table, Naming one "Project_Child" and the other "Project_Parent".  Now connect the "Project_Child" to the "Project_Parent" where "Project_Child.parent_project" = "Project_Parent.project_key".

Now you can create a layout on the "Project_Parent" and use a portal to display all of it's children.

Thanks, I'm new to FileMaker, so it took some time for me to sort through it all. Thanks for the help.
