Help installing AJAX Control Toolkit

Hi Experts - I am setting up the AJAX Control Toolkit for the first time.  I've added a reference to the AjaxControlToolkit.dll into my /Bin directory.  I've also added a new tab in my 'Toolbox' that has all the controls.

As a test I placed a confirmation button extender control onto a new asp.net page but I'm getting a highlight/underline error under this line...

<%@ Page Language="VB" AutoEventWireup="false" CodeFile="ajax.aspx.vb" Inherits="mypage_ajax" %>

the error is:

Could not load file or assembly 'AjaxControlToolkit, or one of its dependencies. Access is denied.

Any idea as to what I did wrong?  I've included a sample of my code, if you need it.

<%@ Page Language="VB" AutoEventWireup="false" CodeFile="ajax.aspx.vb" Inherits="mypage_ajax" %>

<%@ Register Assembly="AjaxControlToolkit" Namespace="AjaxControlToolkit" TagPrefix="cc1" %>

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">

<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head runat="server">
    <title>Untitled Page</title>
</head>
<body>
    <form id="form1" runat="server">
      <div>
        <asp:ScriptManager ID="asm" runat="server">
        </asp:ScriptManager>
        <cc1:ConfirmButtonExtender runat="server">
        </cc1:ConfirmButtonExtender>
    </div>
    </form>
</body>
</html>

Put the AJAX dll in your Bin folder, then add the reference to it.

Hello,

Do not copy AajxControlToolkit to bin. Instead of that use Add refrence option to add AjaxControlToolkit.

then run your website project .It is solve your problem.

Just check, is your AJAX Toolkit registered in Web.Config file?

It should be something like,

<controls>
        <add tagPrefix="asp" namespace="System.Web.UI" assembly="System.Web.Extensions, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31BF3856AD364E35"/>
                <add tagPrefix="asp" namespace="System.Web.UI.WebControls" assembly="System.Web.Extensions, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31BF3856AD364E35"/>
                <add namespace="AjaxControlToolkit" assembly="AjaxControlToolkit" tagPrefix="ajaxToolkit"/>
               <add tagPrefix="ajax" namespace="System.Web.UI" assembly="System.Web.Extensions, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31BF3856AD364E35"/>

            </controls>

please Note : This section of web.config file is related to Ajax control toolkit 3.5 only. It may differ if you have its previous versions toolkit

hope that helped you

thanks
