I Can confirm it works with VMWare server using Windows 2003 R2 EE as your hypervisor...

Microsoft HPC. Its microsoft latest generation Clustering software.

personally i would strongly suggest against clustering VIA VM.

What type of shared storage do you have this will probably be the gotcha for you. Its not supported to use iSCSI or MFS. Check this out lots of info here.

wht would be some of the reasons that you'd not recommend using vmware on clustering ?
With clustering generally because of the reduced power provided to the OS when using VM's.

clustering is quite a Hardware intensive configuration and generally you would cluster several servers together rather than clustering several VM's within 1 server.

I would say mainly the problem would be that it would give you little to no benefit. If you were to install it for testing purposes in a LAB based environment then this is a different story.
