to be clear a workstation/server with OS windows 2000
where the mother board fried and
there was an app on this workstation the user was using this app and it is a custom app and there is no installer for this app so i need to move the hard drive which is in tact. so to get to my question I wanted to move the hard drive to a new workstation and I was wondering if there is a proper way to move the HD over to the new workstation (for windows 200)

Just make sure the NEW system hardware(Chipset, CPU, controller and etc...) is the same as the OLD one.

With 2000 Os, I bet the motherboard is old enough that you can not find identical one for replacement. Could you please list your motherboard type here?
