hey guys,

I have a box running Windows Server 2003 R2 EE. Volume Shadow copies are disabled yet it is still outputting on a daily basis. I stumbled across this problem when i noticed disk usage increasing significantly on a daily basis.

I have verified its set to not run.

When i attempt to press the disable button i get the error message which can be seen in image 1

So i have also attempted to disable the service and then attempt to disable it and i get image 2.

also it will not delete the files using the command line. i have attempted to remove associations etc but to no effect. infact it created an additional copy every time i tried.

please help grrrrrr

In the mean time i have used the following command to resize the volume

vssadmin resize shadowstorage /On=C: /For=C: /MaxSize=300MB

but this doesn't fix the problem that it is actually still creating copies even when its set to disabled.
you could remove windows shadow service from window components in add remove programs

It's alright once i resized the assigned size it allowed me to disable from command line.
