Dreamweaver CS3 - Timeline is not editable in template, how can I add editable region to allow

Hi,
This is buggy me....  I have created a site in dreamweaver cs3 and it is all going well, using templates where possible to speed up the control and later modification of the pages, but I have a problem in that one of the pages is utilising the timeline, but I can't apply this when the page has a template, now I know this is because of the editable region, but where on earth do I add an editable region to the template page to allow this functionality.  I don't mind if it is a branch or direct replacement for the current template.

Any help is grately appricated.

To insert an Editable Region first open the template.  Next, make sure you are either in code view or split view.  In your code, place your cursor where you want the editable region.  Then click on Insert > Template Objects > Editable Region.  Name your region and you are done.

OK that is how you insert a standard editable region.  But do you know how to do one that allows you to modify the timeline from within the editable region, my current ones don't.

Commented:
That would depend on what this 'timeline' is. 'Timeline' is not a DW/HTML/CSS term; it's usage when taking about DW means nothing. What is your 'timeline' and how does it fit into your template (including external files)?

The term 'timeline' is meant within the Dreamweaver application.  It allows developers to control div objects and or perform modification in regard to visibility.
It is this timeline that seems disabled when working on a page that was developed from a template.  I just wonder if anyone knows what areas I need to add editable regions to to allow the modification of the timeline.

I have absolutely no idea of what you're referring to when saying "The term 'timeline' is meant within the Dreamweaver application."

Even though I spend 8 hrs a day in front of DW, I recall no DW application that has a 'timeline' feature, which controls divs. This brings me back to my original question, "What is your 'timeline' and how does it fit into your template (including external files)?"

Commented:
you can read more on it here: http://www.adobe.com/support/dreamweaver/interactivity/layers_timeline/.  Sorry I cannot help, I do not use dreamweaver for animations.

Hello again,
I have attached a screen shot of the area that has the timeline.  Here you can control Div elements allowing the be visible at a certain point etc.  But this feature seems to be disabled when I template my document.

OK - so it's more DW fluff.

Usually DHTML behaviours are instantiated via snippets immediately before, after or in the opening tag of the html element that is the target of the behaviour.

The DW template has to be modified to include this instantiation within an editable region. If you post the applicable html source for the animated div, I could point out where the editable region has to be expanded to.

Perfect I will do that later today.

Thank you.

Hi v2Media, please find uploaded to this post a zip file containing an index page and a small collection of images.  You will see my APdiv object on the right hand side and this was created with a template file.  If you could show me the area where I need to add a further editable region to allow the timeline to function and move the apdiv element that would be brilliant.

You will need to rename index.log to index.html

The second file upload is the template file that I used to create the index.html file.
You will need to rename the test.log file to test.xlt before use.

Thanks again and looking forward to your reply post.

I need to see example page from the site, not code one up myself. The index file you've attached has no dhtml applied to it, so it's of no help.

Attach an example to a reply that includes the same dhtml behaviour as the real site and check that it works before uploading.
