After disconnect novell login, (getenv "nwusername") shows login name which is disconnected now.
Based on your question, I'm assuming you want to find the the user name of the last login? You said you can't get the NWUSERNAME environment variable when you're disconnected (not logged in)  Unless that info is chached somewhere else in the registry or an INI file somewhere, you might be out of luck.

I don't know that there's anything you can do if this no longer shows the login name after you're not logged in and Novel clears the environment variable.

Check the values of the environment variables via Windows to verify that NWUSERNAME does indeed no longer have a value.

When you attempt to log into Novel again, does it show you the last user name?  You could search the registry and see if that user name is somewhere else in there. AutoLISP then has functions to read the registry keys for you.

Am I understanding your problem correctly?
