Connect Wii console to Internet using DLink dl-524 wireless router

Dear Experts,
I have had this working approx 3 months ago, but router firmware update seems to have screwed things up.
Problem is Wii console connecting to Wireless router DLink 524.
Wii console sees the router on the List and succesfully notes the protocol WPA2-PSK (AES)
I pick it from list and type in the preshared key. Only to recieve error message unable to connect.
Referred to Nintendo website that has a blanket return code explanation saying best to hard code the IP and DNS settings to the Wii console.
Done that...didn't work.
Checked the MAC address filtering on Router - Wii console is listed as ALLOW.
Even removed MAC Address filter from Router and still got same message on Wii.

Don't know what to do now spent all evening yesterday trying stuff.
The thing is that last time the Wii connected fine and even updated the Wii console software, so all was well.

Next step is to update the router firmware again, but what else to do?
Question, is there anyway of hard wiring to the router to get internet access, I cant find a TCPIP socket, just USB, my router is TCP/IP socket or wireless.
thanks
Miff
