Backup exec 11d

Can you backup a network share on a 2003 server without installing the remote agent?  I have two 2003 windows server,  one with backup exec 11d.  I just want to back up a few files  on the remote server.  It keeps giving me access denied errors.  Even though I have all the security set correct.  I'm wondering if the remote client needs to be installed.   Just did want to pay for something else.

I believe you do need to have the agent in order to backup files on that remote server.

To save cost, you can write a batch file to copy those folders into the backup server. Schedule it to run probably 30mins before the job via Task Scheduler.
