Can't receive emails from outside the organization

I just configured an Exchange 2007 server it is the hub and cas. There is no edge server. I can send emails to external domain and I can send/receive internal messages. I can't receive messages from outside doamains. I have my mx and dns records up to date. When I ping my mail server from an outside domain it resolves to the right IP address and I can telnet to the mail server on port 25 from the outside.

have you configured the Recieve connector on E2K7 . go to the Exchange management shell and type get-AcceptedDomain
does to shows ur domain name
On receive connector kindly select all the authentication levels

I typed in get-AcceptedDomain and it came up with my domain name and everything but Externally Secured is checked in the Authentication levels under the default receive connector.
dont use the default recieve connector . Create a new recieve Internet Connector

I setup a new receive connector and called it Internet. I checked all of the authentication and permission groups. I only put the ip of the mail server in for local addresses to receive mail. Still nothing coming in.
while creating the Internet recieve connector have u specified the FQDN

just follow these steps

I followed that I still got nothing. Is there a way to see if mail is getting to the server? Do I have to open up ports other than 25 for mail flow?
If you are not using Edge then I suggest that you go through this article from the MS Exchange team.

any other suggestions?
Did you go through the article that I posted above?
It explains how to configure an Exchange 2007 system to receive email when Edge is not involved.
