Humming sound when making a conference call?

We have an Avaya IP office system, with a PBX. My colleagues are currently on a conference call and there's a humming sound coming from the phone. It sounds like some interference, but we've not been able to figure out what's causing the sound. Any ideas will help.

Is someone's cell phone too close to the phone unit?

I asked and they said no. I can't think of anything else that could cause such noise.

Is your cabling old?  Try dropping and reconnecting the call?

The cabling is about 5 years old. They dropped and reconnected the call from another phone, but no difference.

And only when conference calling?  If it's done it on two phones, I wonder if it's the other party causing it, although they'll never admit it!

That's exactly what I said. I'm just gonna restart our telephony server at end of day. Thanks a lot for your comments.

Does a single-party call to the other party (no conference) result in the hum?  Try that number on a cell phone maybe?

Wow! Benhar, you're really good at this. Unfortunately, my superiors don't come through when it comes to troubleshooting exercises. They want me to find the problem on my end and resolve it lol

Amen to that!
