Crystal Reports 9 installation problem

I am trying to install crystal reports 9 onto a Windows XP laptop and on Step 9 it gets into file: craxdrt9.dll file and hangs.  Time remaining reports as 2 seconds left.

I could leave it there for ever and a day but wont pass this spot.
Has anyone else dealt with this and how did they get around it?  Unfortunately the reports used with our vendor are CR 6.5/9 and can not use 11+ due to compatability issues that arise.

WHat service packs do you have installed for XP?

There was an issue with XP SP2 that Crystal recommended not installing XP SP2 since Crystal didn't work with it.  I think the issue is solved with later SPs for XP.

I know SP3 is deployed on it, they use WSUS to deploy updates here.
So I would assume it is current to date.

I haven't installed CR9.

Have you tried from a clean boot?

I assume you have ADMIN privileges.

Yea local admin but for a laugh, i installed to my Vista laptop, worked fine...
I don't know.

Which edition of Crystal9 do you have?
Are you doing a custom or default install?
