You probably need to install the driver. What model laptop do you have, and i can link you the driver download page.

Try the Lenovo drivers & downloads page:

http://www.lenovo.com/nz/en/ (or lenovo.com for another country :-)  )

Go to Support --> Downloads & Drivers
Brand = Notebooks and handhelds
Family = 3000 G530
Type = All Types
Operating System = (choose your OS - i'll go with XP)

Click Continue
Select the following:

"Synaptics/ALPS Touchpad Driver for Windows XP and Windows Vista 32-bit - 3000 G530 (MT 4446 only), N500"

Takes you to here:

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-71013

Click on 52tp10ww.exe and it brings up a downlaod pop-up - Click I agree, then save.

30.5MB file :-)

i re downloaded but it is given same error. what to do? pls help
get rid of this..
When you ran the install and it was looking for that file, make sure that it is pointing to the correct location.  If you are not sure of where to point, do a Search for SynTPAPI.dll..  It may not be in the Program Files Folder, but in the c:\Drivers\Touchpad\52tp10ww folder (as pictured in my upload)
