Flashplayer and IE8
I have a problem on my computer when trying to watch youtube video's. I can watch a few of them, then I get a message:
Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player.
II have turned on all the scripting in IE8 and can download the latest flashwave player version 10 and it works for a little while but then stops. Is anyone familiar with Flash Player 11.5.1.601 (Complete Standalone Installer)... I was told I could download that installer and it would fix the problem.
Does IE8 and Flashplayer not get along? :-)
Thanks for the help

djb1011--Concerning the installer for version Flash Player 11.5.1.601 :
I think the site is poorly written. The download offered will install Shockwave Player 11.5.1.601, but the Flash Player is v10.0.32.18 . But go ahead and use that site. It probably is best to first uninstall the Flash Player you currently have using the Adobe Uninstaller. http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_14157
That message also mentions Javascript. I would think you have the latest version but if not, here is the latest from Microsoft. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=47809025-D896-482E-A0D6-524E7E844D81&displaylang=en

I do think that I have some sort of virus or spyware as I tried to install a program and after I clicked on the setup file, nothing happened. I found about 7 trojans using spybot. I did some searches on problems with youtube and the flashplayer with IE8 and those websites suggested to use the full install file: shockWave/Flash Player 11.5.1.601 (Complete Standalone Installer)... I downloaded that from this website but haven't installed it yet as I was leary. http://forums.techguy.org/multimedia/526305-hello-you-either-have-javascript.html I read that IE8 and flashplayer maybe don't work too good together, but not sure that is legitmate either. I can send a screen print this evening, but any suggestions on the link for the full install?
djb1011--Not many people report an incompatibility between IE8 and Flash, but there are some. Try running IE8 without add-ons.

"any suggestions on the link for the full install?"
Not sure I understand. You say you have already downloaded this. http://www.softwarepatch.com/internet/shockwave.html
(Remember to uninstall Flash first.)

Yes I downloaded the http://www.softwarepatch.com/internet/shockwave.html but have not installed it yet as I wasn't sure it was a secure file. I got it from the techguy forums and many people suggested that it did work. I couldn't find the flash program to uninstall it. I have vista and it wasn't in my programs and features list.

This could be spy-ware that is posing as a browser error message and trying to get you to download bad software. If some videos are able to be played before it stops then you certainly shouldn't have a problem.
Are there certain video's that it happens right away on, or if you refresh the same video enough times, will it just suddenly stop playing. It could be that only certain video's making use of special youtube features such as captions are causing the problem.
You should be running Adobe Flash Player version 10.0.32.18 (the current latest version) which is available here: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/thankyou/?installer=Flash_Player_10_for_Windows_Internet_Explorer
