i am using ASP.NET and SQLServer 2005. i want to use webservice for data manipulation. i am having a class file to get, insert, update, delete the state list. when i called the getstate() directly from my aspx.cs page, its working fine. but now (for the first time where i am implementing webservice for manipulations in my project) when i try to invoke that webservice it makes runtime error. the error is

"Cannot serialize interface System.Collections.Generic.IList`1[[CityBeam.Entities.StateEntity, CityBeam.Entities, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null]]."

[WebMethod]
        public IList<StateEntity> GetStates()
        {
            StateBO sObj = new StateBO();
            return sObj.GetStates();
        }
