can VM automatically bring down ethernet cards?
Hi, I was curious if its possible for vmware to detect nic cards and bring them down if required.
Eg, our esx hosts has a linux vm machine on each. There is a ethernet cable between both and a cross over to monitor heart beat traffic.
What we want to do is in the event that the heart beat traffic link failed, the vm or the linux box automatically brings down the primary ethernet card (eth0).
The reason we need this is because if the heart beat link goes down, the standby vm server will become the active server and we don't want that.
Thanks

Hi Ryder,
I know I only asked just to cover myself. I think so sort of "script" is probably the only way to acheive this.

Dont you think the issue lies within the VM, is there any setting you can set in the guest to make it as the "prefered host"
