A list of everything?
Dear all
I am trying to find any written material regarding studies concerning the creation of a list about everything. To put it in other words, any research or theory on the attempt to categorize everything. Information on how to create a taxonomy which can include everything, like an apple, a dog, a tree, a football match and love or hate.
This is probably a philosophical or sociological topic so I would appreciate any kind of help or suggestions on this. Thank you very much in advance.
Regards,
K.

You will also find it difficult to google for generalised information on Knowledge trees, since "the KnowledgeTree" have trademarked the name and flooded the internet with references.

In order to clarify this, yes I meant the things human beings are aware of; material or immaterial.
A dictionary categorizes everything based on their alphabetical order. I was looking for more of a meaning based approach.
Thank you for your suggestions. I will look into the provided links and see if they have what I am looking for. Feel free to add more suggestions of philosophical or sociological basis.

How about starting with a defintion of a thing? Then your list could start with thing and no-thing.
A thing is a concept...make no mistake about that.

And what are the no-things would be?!

I guess there would be nothing in that list, but the category would exist...

But no-things category represents what? Unknow things?
Well, in order to define a thing, you have to have nothing. This is a duality, each defines the other.

Thanks for trying anyway :)
Categorization is not about defining things but instead classifying them in an ordered way.
All living creatures have been, are, or will be classified by their scientific names.
