Dynamics GP Stock Count Procedure

Does anyone have an easy way to automate the Dynamics GP stock count entry?  We scan our inventory using barcodes and bring that data into excel.  It would be nice if we could someway import that excel file into GP instead of going through the tedious process of doing the stock count schedule and manual entry.

Hi,

I'm not aware of such a solution, but I haven't had the need to search for it specifically.

One place to start is the Microsoft Solution Finder.  It doesn't have very good search features, but it is supposedly a central repository of GP partners and solutions.

https://solutionfinder.microsoft.com/

I've also attached a spreadsheet which contains data similar to the Solution Finder (not sure if they are the same database or not).  It isn't very easy to search either, but you can at least do full text searching using Excel.

I'll also check with some GP partners to see if they are familiar with a solution.  If you don't find anything, let me know and I could provide you with an estimate for developing an import utility that would automate the transfer of the data from Excel into GP.

Hi,

I just sent an e-mail to several GP partners to see if they are aware of anything.  I'll let you know.

I also checked eConnect, and don't see an option for importing a stock count.

So if a solution doesn't exist, my thought is that there are two options:

1) Direct to table import
2) Use Visual Studio Tools to automate the data entry into the GP window

Both approaches have possible pros and cons, so I'd have to look at the window and tables and see if one is simpler and easier.

Let me know if you find anything through the Solution Finder or ISV list.

Thanks,

Hi,

A colleague at a GP partner replied to let me know about a potential solution from Blue Moon. Attached is a brochure.

Since it sounds like you already have much of the process in place, it may be more than you want or need, but it is one possibility.
