Get computer name from file path

Hi, hope somebody can help me...

If I only know the path of a file

(for example: "Z:\somefolder\somefile.txt" (being Z: a mapped drive), "C:\somefolder\somesubfolder\somefile.txt" (being C the local hard drive) or "\\server\sharedfolder\file.txt" (being server the name of another computer in the network))

and that path is valid (I mean, the file exists and can be opened/accessed)

how can I programatically get the name of the computer where that file is?

Please post your solution code in plain C (only Win32 API please), VB6 or VB.NET.

no, I do not want to map a drive, I need some function like:

GetNameOfTheComputerWhereTheFileIsHosted(FilePath)

so I can call it like:

GetNameOfTheComputerWhereTheFileIsHosted("Z:\somefolder\somefile.txt")
GetNameOfTheComputerWhereTheFileIsHosted("C:\somefolder\somesubfolder\somefile.txt")
GetNameOfTheComputerWhereTheFileIsHosted("\\server\sharedfolder\file.txt")

and it will return strings like:
"Server"
"TheNameOfMyComputer"
"Server"
for each case.
