Unable to publish a document to Document Management server from Word 2007

I have created a site collection (http://MySharepointSite:port) with windows authentication (intranet) and extended it to use FBA(extranet). Extended site is a secured site (https://MySharePointSite).

Now, I want publish a document from ms-word to document library. For this , I am trying to add a
secured website to "My Network Places" and its throwing  below error
"The folder you entered doesn't appear to be valid. Please choose another".

I am able to add the  intranet site to "My Network Places".Also, I am able to open intranet site as web folder ( internet explorer --> file --> open -->check open as webfolder).

I am using WSS 3.0, MS Office 2007 and Windows XP (client computer).

I don't think SSL is causing you a problem (secure sites can be mapped to my network places, as long as you use the format \\servername\site instead of https://servername/site. WebDav/Web Client Network protocol only works on port 80, so if you're using SSL on port 443 it will default to the alternative  FPRPC protocol, which looks a bit dated but basically functions the same.

However, FBA does not support explorer view. Neither protocol can pass FBA credentials through to the explorer shell. So in your current configuration I don't believe it's possible for you to achieve what you're looking for.
