EXCEL not opening link on web page

WaywardS0n used Ask the Experts™
We have a web page with links to spreadsheets on a file server.
When 'some' users clink on the link, the file seems to download, Excel is started in task manager but excel never opens. If the use saves the file then double clicks it on the desktop, it opens just fine. I've verified user rights,  verified file type associations and ran Office diagnostics. I've even gone into task manager and stopped "Excel" and tried to double-click the link again, same result. I have even tried having excel open and double-clicking the link, same result. Before I just reinstall office, any suggestions?

Hello -
Are you in Firefox, IE, or Safari?  Also, have you downloaded any Windows or Office updates lately?

It more than likely has to deal with security settings - try adjusting them on the users who are unable to open the files.  It might also help to compare settings to those who are able to open the files.

If you are using IE, sometimes just switching to Firefox solves the issue :-)

One other thing to try is using Download Accelerator Plus - you can download it from CNET spyware free here: http://download.cnet.com/Download-Accelerator-Plus/3000-2071_4-10037157.html?tag=mncol;pop

Let me know if any of this helps!
