Can I start an online defrag manually exchange 5.5

Hello, my exchange server has shut down due to low space. There is space on the disk but not in the database. It is Exchange 5.5 so I believe the limit is 16GB. I have been able to get it started to remove some mail but it almost immediately shuts down after everyone logs in. Can I manually run an online defrag so we don't lose the whole day to this?

Thanks in advance

you need to modify the maintenance schedule so that it runs at the time you want... now

How do I do that. I cannot find the place where the maintenance interval option is.
Hi kasdas,

Have a look at the following:

Good Luck!

That link is for offline defrag. I am hoping I can get by until the weekend before performing this. It will take about a day or so to do the offline.
To schedule database defragmentation, use one of the following methods:
To schedule database defragmentation for an individual database, use the Maintenance interval option on the Database tab of a mailbox store or of a public folder store object to configure the maintenance interval.
To schedule database defragmentation for a collection of mailbox stores and of public folder stores, use the Maintenance interval option on the Database (Policy) tab of a mailbox store or of a public folder store policy to configure the maintenance interval.
you won't free up disk space until the offline defrag is executed

So am I screwed?
no, the online defrag should create whitespace that exchange can use

I have your instructions but where do I go to get to the  maintenance interval option
select the mailbox store and view properties
there should be a tab to configure this option

I think I am ok. The defrag started and I had deleted some mail and within a half hour the event log said I had 658MB of free space. One more question, can I install enterprise 5.5 right over this standard edition to buy some time before I upgrade to exchange 2003?

Thanks for all your help.
