Last Modified: 2013-12-05
I have a customer that has a single Exchange 2003 server on 2003 Standard OS. At one point Activesync was working for one IPHONE and then just quit. I have gone through KB 817379 and 883380 more than once. OWA and OMA work like a champ but no luck with MSASync. https://servername/microsoft-server-activesync yeilds 404 file not found.

Problem solved. I'd still like someone to explain to me why in the hell was this happening and if someone else has seen this. I've been digging through blogs for two days now and haven't found crap regarding a miss named virtual directory. I backed up the vdir left microsoft-server-activesynch there restored the new as microsoft-server-activesync deleted the activesynch one and all async test pass now.

Your virtual directory name change is unusual to say the least.  I have never seen one called this before.
As the virtual directory cannot be renamed - it is more likely that someone deleted it and then realised it was needed and put it back manually but got the spelling wrong.  Do you have any techies with suspect spelling abilities?

Yea there's a chance of that. Might be some very uncommon bug.

There are some strange people out there who might write a bug to do that - but I can think of better things to spend their time and skills on, but then people are full of surprises!!
