Linking to Facebook, Share Partners or Facebook Connect

Hi,

A client of mine that I've designed an e-commerce site for wants a link to facebook on the front page similar to one at the bottom of this site  http://www.ezibuy.com.au

I'm not a user of Facebook myself other than signing up just to have a quick look awhile back, so i don't know a lot about the intricacies of Facebook.

I need someone to explain to me in very simple terms :-) what the difference is between  Facebook's 'Share Partners' and 'Facebook Connect' for instance?

My client has a facebook page for her website as well but that's not relevent is it or is it??

If somebody could explain it all to me that would be much appreciated.

Cheers
Greg

Thanks Abhishek_pathak,

There are quite a lot of sites like that but they don't explain what 'Facebook Connect' actually does, even Facebooks own developer pages on it are confusing.

If I could just get a distilled overview of what 'Facebook Connect' actually does in laymans terms I could make a decision on whether I need it or Facebook 'Share Partners' .

Cheers
The kind of link that you have mentioned requires the the user to have a facebook account using which they can become a fan of the profile/page/product - and is an example of Share Partners.

Facebook connect is a different concept..any affiliated site which implements facebook connect enable the users to login to the website using Facebook username/password... and can share their experience with their facebook friends via facebook.

So from your description, my guess is that your client requires 'Share Partner' thing and not 'Connect'. It would require her or you to create a page with basic introduction of the business etc and place its link on your website.

Just a disclaimer: I have shared my piece of understanding here, please cross verify yourself as well and choose whichever you feel like!!

Cheers & Regards.

It looks like my client has been able to generate some code from within their Facebook account to do what we want to do. The code creates a link with a "Become a Fan" button.

So I will try and use that, the only problem with it is that it's too wide and won't fit where we want it but we will see what we can do.

I don't know if you have had any experience with creating these "Become a Fan" buttons Abhishek, but I will try that first and come back here.

Cheers

Looks like your client has generated the code for Share Partner from Facebook..Become a Fan button will be fetched from Facebook site itself I guess..you just have to position it.

Good luck with the implementation!!
