Hello,
Both suggestion was tried, not works.
any idea? did you installed windows 7?could you please try this case for me?
Thanks!
is this a workgroup or a homegroup we are talking about?
workgroup
are you able to type the computers address and find it or any of its shares in explorer
eg \\Georges-PC\sharename
yes, I connecting from mac os 10.6 to windows 7 by \\123.123.123.123 is fine.
But, on mac os 10.6, it can't find any workgroup there. but this works on windows xp. (showing workgroup there ;>)
It seem like windows 7 issue... I just try windows 7 rc1, so I am not sure did microsoft solved this issue or not...

some more useful information

b4 closing may i ask if the guest account is enabled.  Sometimes mac to pc requires a guest account active on the pc to allow anonymous mac connections....win7 has much more integrated security than win xp....try testing by enabling the guest account then setting share permission to allow all for anonymous (just to test).  Also check the status of defender and built in or third party firewalls. DISABLE ALL
also i appreciate the points consideration
Nelson Torres,
I don't think the matter of anonymous/user permission..
I tried set a guess account on windows 7 and mac os 10.6.1 is still not to view that workgroup "workgroup".
the only way  I can do is connect to windows 7 by mac os 10.6.1 finder -> go -> connect to server smb://123.123.123.123
But it works on windows xp.. (showing workgroup on finder -> go -> network)
it may cause of windows7 is disabled samba, may be windows 7 was disabled something else. But I still no idea why...

this may help you, if you have a mac os 10.6

once its moved to the new group ill continue posting....in the meantime ill research a little more and try to duplicate the error...ill be watching for the new post
if you want to continue go https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/24830325/network-between-mac-os-10-6-1-and-windows-7.html
remind you, I don't think a problem from firewall, Because I installed same av on windows xp its works
