I have already tried this method. However, though these files are in .sdb extension, they are actually not in OpenOffice format at all. They are useless.

An .sdb file is an old OpenOffice.org Database file (see http://www.openoffice.org/dev_docs/source/file_extensions.html). Unfortunately, this is an older file extension, and is not, to my knowledge, used anymore. The current extension is .odb.
