MSSQL 2005 Global Identifiers

I have read that MSSQL GUIDS have a possiblity of repeating and the chance of repeating becomes higher every time the server is restarted.  Is this something to be realistically concerned about.  I am designing a database where the unique identifier has to be unique among all tables.  The column will not be the primary key.  Will the GUID work in this instance?

I am still what confused on the issue as most people seem to think that this is not an issue;  however there are a significant number of writings that deal with the issue less as a statistical issue and rather are reporting instances of duplicates.  Does anyone have anything else to contribute?

Thank you for sending the link.  That gave me the numbers that I need to show my boss when we have the code review.
