Nortel VPN client not assigning static IP

Hi Experts.  The state gov here provides various engineers a nortel client to allow us to make a vpn connection back into the internal network.  Until this weekend, I had been able to make the connection and get my assigned static IP address which allows me to manage the servers.  Now, for whatever reason, I can still make the VPN connection and get the static IP but I am not able to manage the internal servers because the IP issued by my ISP is being used instead of the static IP.

I have uninstalled the client, re-installed/configured the client (with reboots in-between each one) and verified that my user account/group membership hasn't changed.  The client software (version 6.02) is installed on an XP Pro w/SP2 laptop.  AV is updated and current.

So, what the h3ll am I missing?  The client service techs who were trying to trouble-shoot recommended using remote desktop on my pc at work as a work around.  BS.  I need to have this fixed.  I appreciate any time you can offer up.
