Check hypervisor status on Dell PowerEdge with Windows 2008 R2

I installed Windows 2008 R2 with Hyper-V on one of our servers and created a virtual machine. The problem is when I try to start the guest machine it gives me an error message that "The application encountered an error while attempting to change the state of SERVERNAME", and says the Hypervisor is not running.

This is a Dell PE2950 brand new server and the CPU is capable of hypervisor, the server is on one of our remote locations and I don't have much physical access to it. How do i check this capability on the server and how to enable it?

- Install Dell OpenMange if you don't have it already
- Dell System Administrator -> System -> Main System -> Properties
- Check the virtualization mode (VT) for the CPU, if it is available and enabled
- If it is available you can just enable it in the BIOS, then turn the computer off and turn it back up physically

You can enable that from the command line as well if you don't want to go through the BIOS setup, check here for instructions: http://blog.itpc.ca/?p=3

But the CPU has to be VT capable.
