Automation error -2147217406
All,
I am using a VB6 application packaged with Wise and installed in customer machines. Recently in 1 or 2 machines I noticed getting "Automation Error -2147217406" when try to open the EXE (Installation went fine without problems) also checked if the machine has missed any updates. In approximately 50 machines it worked fine; only 2 machines had this problem. I checked the windows events (under computer management->system tools ) when this error is throw but no event is captured and also I have application log which turned out to be 0KB. Now all the areas where I can troubleshoot is been shut down. Please advice what could be this problem. Thanks for your help in advance.

this is automation error.. .and can be caused by a lot of things... for example.. you might not have permission on some files... program is unable to access / or instantiate some required external components... i suggest you to update your system install all patches and service packs...

IF this applicaiton is developed by u... try to manually register all components on the computers in question.. .
if it is third party... ask the vendors support , such errors have different meanings in different applications.

Re-Registered all the components manually; none throwed any error. Still not working
