Windows 7 easy transfer wizard will not detect all XP profiles

Hi,
I am wanting to upgrade my xp pro laptop to win7.  I have created a 2nd partition on the laptop in which to store the migrated data and also an acronis backup image.  I have install the easy transfer wizard on the second partiiton and run it but it will only detect shared items and not the admin profile.  I have run this direct from the win7 dvd and usb drive with the same result.

I have no issue previously when changing fm win7 RC to win7 pro.

I also tried using the File and transfer wizard in XP but unable to migrate the data back into win7.

For some reason even though all the documentation online says to use the Easy transfer wizard to detect/select the profiles etc to save for migration, it only asks to select shared items.  I can used the advanced option and select the profile individually, but haven't tested to see if it will resinstate it and settings once win7 is installed. (due to the time it takes)

It uses USMT instead of easy transfer wizard

Hi Mike,
I came across the link yesterday but will give it a go today.  What i cant figure out, is, do i still have to re-install office prior to running the USMT tool?

Thanks.  It's a long weekend here in NZ so got plenty of time..

Ok, Managed to get the USMT script running.  It managed to update my win7 user name "richard" with the data from the All Users xp profile.  It also migrated the Xp Administrator profile (which i was using as the default) across to the Win7 Admin profile, but there is no way i can use the admin profile as the default or copy the profile across to Richard profile.

My thought at this stage is to, 1 re image the pc back to xp, create a new profile, copy the admin profile across and start the whole process again.

What do you think??
I would agree

Ended up doing as i suggested, creating an addtitional proflile and just used the easy transfer wizard for the rest.  back up and running again in a couple of hrs.
