How to do ETL Testing?

Hi Friends,

I've been a BO developer all my career and now got an opportunity to do some ETL Testing on the Informatica and Datastage Mappings.Basically, the data is extracted from Oracle and some flat files and then would have some transformations in between and finally, the data would be loaded into the DB2 database.
I haven't done Testing before. So, i'm wondering how the testing between multiple databases/flat files feasible?
Any valuable inputs from you experts are highly appreciated.

Thanks much!

If you are aware of the complete process involved in your ETL job, then you can access both Oracle and DB2 database and check whether the job ran successfully or not..

Above is the default scenario...

Now just change some of the records in Source Oracle Database and check whether those records are not reflected in your Destination DB2 database and that's how you can verify your job..

Thanks! I don't have the privilege to tweak the mappings.I can only validate the changes from source to target.

Sorry If my words meant that to you..

I mentioned to tweak your data in Oracle Source and check whether your logic ignores that particular record or not for processing.
