Outlook email response is bold
When responding to a particular user's Email that was composed using Word in Outlook the text always appears in bold.
See attachment. The top line is what happens when the email is opened and text is just entered per a usual email. Note that it is in bold font. This happens to anyone who responds to this user regardless of how they have set their font defaults.
Baffling....!!!

PS This is on the user's machine that sends the original emails...
So it doesn't happen on one specific system, correct? It happens to anyone on any system when replying to one specific person? How about forwarding an email from that person? Have you tried turning Word off as the email editor (at least for testing)?
Have you had that person email himself and reply to himself to see if it still does it?

Hello lxguy,
On your PC, Check:
Tools | options | mail format | Stationary & Fonts
Replying & forwarding messages font button ... check the bold is deselected as normal on the font menu that is displayed.

I have played with the Stationary & Fonts settings on both the source and target machines with no change in behaviour. Benign settings with stationary set to none and fonts at basic settings does not fix the problem.
In response to ack154 suggestions I tried turning Word off on the source machine and this eliminates the problem. When I turn Word back on the problem returns. (The user would like to use Word).
I also tried ack154's suggestion of having problem machine emailing itself and surprisingly (to me, at least) the bold problem does not occur.

To further clarify, this problem occurs to anyone who receives an email from the source machine.
It would almost certainly seem to be a problem on the source machine.

Did as recommended and renamed the "normal.dot"" file and the problem was immediately fixed.
The "normal.dot" file must have been accidentally corrupted. There were no intentional customizations.
Interesting that a customization to the normal.dot on the source PC can cause unique behaviour on other users' machines.

I don't have a copy of XP to refer to in front of me, but I think that's where it's set.
